Eight members, saxophones, violins and synthesizers, all crammed onto one stage. Kissing the Pink were one of the most adventurous new wave bands of the early ’80s, and “Last Film” is a forgotten gem.
London’s art-pop collective
Kissing the Pink formed in London around 1980, a large group of music students led by Nick Whitecross and Jon Kingsley Hall. “Last Film” (1983) became a UK hit, and their debut album Naked followed the same year. Later, as a smaller lineup, “Certain Things Are Likely” (1986) found success in American dance clubs.
